Come join us for Mixtophonics’ one year anniversary! On Wednesday, June 19 we celebrate the first great year of our on-going improv series with an evening of trippy ambient grooves played Vancouver’s top creative musicians. Expect fantastic sonic explorations by this eclectic group of musicians on laptops, drums, horns and strings. These concerts have been presented the middle Wednesday of each month in one of Vancouver’s coolest bars, LanaLou’s.
Mixtophonics is an evening of experimentation and discovery that involves the combination Vancouver’s leading electronic and laptop explorers such as Stefan Smulovitz, Giorgio Magnanensi, Constantine Katsiris, Jules Laverne (Hitori Tori), Lee Hutzulak; world-class improvisers such as Francois Houle, Ron Samworth, Lisa Miller, Marina Hasselberg, Jillian Lebeck, Roxanne Nesbitt, Meredith Bates, Andre Lachance; and amazing drummers such as Eliot Doyle, Bernie Arai, Kenton Loewen, Trent Otter and Nino DePasquale. It is this uncommon combination of drum’n’bass, acoustic musicians, and laptop/ electronic artists that create this unique Vancouver sonic experience: wild, fresh ambient trip-hop.
